(2 days – Short version)

itinerary

Day 01 | Cusco - Ollantaytambo - WiƱay Wayna - Aguas Calientes

This day we will start the excursion very early to make the most of it!
The guide will meet you at your hotel to accompany you to the Ollantaytambo train station, where you will take the 6:10 am train.
At Kilometer 104, the train will stop, and you will disembark with the guide. There, you will cross the river to begin the Inca Trail section (everyone must show their passport/ID).
The first hour and a half of hiking will be uphill, crossing various microclimates while enjoying views of the Urubamba River from above.

Afterward, you will reach a waterfall to cross and continue to the archaeological site of WiƱay Wayna, where you’ll find some camping areas for those doing the longer Inca Trail route. Here, you will take a short break to recharge and rehydrate.

The hike will continue to the final section, leading to the Sun Gate, where you’ll get your first full view of Machu Picchu. During the last hour, you will descend from the Sun Gate to finally arrive at Machu Picchu around 1:30 pm.

Day 02 | Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Ollantaytambo - Cusco

The next morning, you will head up early to take the tour of Machu Picchu. The visit will follow Circuit 3.

After the guided tour of the archaeological site, you will return to the entrance gate to board the bus back to Aguas Calientes. There, you will have plenty of time to rest, have a drink or something to eat, while waiting for your train back to Ollantaytambo.
