Day 01 | Uros Floating Islands ā Taquile Island ā Luquina Community
Lake Titicaca is known as the largest navigable lake in the world. Its vast expanse creates the feeling of sailing on the sea, where the horizon is barely visible.
After about 20 minutes, we will arrive at Uros. These are 80 floating islands made from totora, an aquatic plant that grows on the surface of the lake. Here, we will learn more about the localsā life, customs, lifestyle, and culture.
After the visit (around 9:30 am), we will get back on the boat to head towards Taquile Island. The transfer time to Taquile is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Taquile has different sectors. We will explore the island on the south side, trying to avoid mass tourism. The Taquile community stands out for its ancestral weaving techniques.
