Itinerary
Umayo means “River Head” in Quechua and “Place to get water” in the Aymara language. Many years ago, Umayo was connected to Lake Titicaca.
Around the lake, it is possible to find a large number of vicuñas, vizcachas, and a wide variety of water birds.
At approximately 10:00 AM, we will cross the lake by boat. Opposite Lake Umayo is the pre-Inca archaeological site of Sillustani, where you can see huge towers nearly 12 meters high. These archaeological remains date from the 13th to 15th centuries.
After visiting Sillustani, we will head to the Awana Wasi communal house, which serves as a local interpretation center. Here you will have the opportunity to engage in a cultural exchange with native people, who will share relevant information about the lifestyle they lead in their community.
At 12:00 PM we will be ready for lunch.
After lunch, we will return to the hotel in Puno.
